Great Uncle of Anne Feeley

Francis, Great Uncle of Parishioner Anne Feeley, was born in Bermondsey, London in 1891 where his Father, Sidney, he was a self-employed property repairer. In the early 1900s Sidney moved his family to Blackley, Manchester and the 1911 census records him living in York Street, Moston with his wife and six children including Francis and Anne’s Grandfather William Page Grover. Both Francis and William (born 1899) were employed as cotton spinners.

We have been unable to find out when Francis enlisted or when he went to France. We do know that he was killed in action on 1st July 1916 and that he is remembered on the Thiepval Memorial.
