Joseph Harrison Craine
Joseph Harrison Craine was the great Uncle of parishioner Tom Hyde being the youngest brother of Peter’s grandmother. His mother died when he was just six years old and he was brought up by Tom’s grandparents. Joseph was apprenticed to his father as a builder and did not enlist until he was 21 years old in December 1915. He enlisted in the Border Regiment and served in the artillery. He was wounded in April 1917 and returned to England. He recovered and rejoined his regiment in France and sadly was killed on the 2nd of June 1918.
